Therapy for sensitive, thoughtful people navigating relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, and life changes. I see clients in person in Oakland, CA, and virtually throughout California.

It’s amazing what happens when we slow down and look inside.  Hello, potential client!  My name is Leah (she/her-ish), and I’m a mindfulness-based somatic therapist. With warmth, curiosity, humor, and play, I help my clients be with their “inside experiences.”  We find amazing inner resources, patterns from the past, and parts that, although well-meaning, can get in the way (hello inner critic!  Hello people pleaser!).

Let’s start with a free 15-minute phone consultation. Email me at LeahSykesTherapy@gmail.com, or fill out this form.

Who I help:

  • Individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, overwhelm, or painful self-judgment.

  • Couples, and family dyads (adult siblings or parent child pairs; older teens welcome in this context) looking for support around communication, repair and deeper understanding.

  • People who feel distant, anxious, or angry in relationships.

  • Parents navigating the tender terrain of parenting, at any stage.

  • Queer families including families with gender-expansive or trans youth.

  • Neurodivergent folks seeking stability and self-acceptance

  • Anyone longing for clarity, satisfaction, and a grounded sense of self.

If this resonates, let’s talk. Email me at LeahSykesTherapy@gmail.com, or fill out this form.

How I work: I am warm, relational, and client-centered. I integrate somatic therapy, attachment work, and mindfulness to help you build a felt sense of safety in the body and in relationships. I draw from Internal Family Sytems/parts work, Hakomi, expressive arts and play therapy, and tools-based therapies. As an eclectic therapist, I adapt my way of working to each client, and each session. I hold a strong belief that each person has an innate capacity for growth and healing, and that it’s healthy to seek support. I find awe and delight in getting to be that support. You can learn more about me by scheduling a consultation. Email me at LeahSykesTherapy@gmail.com, or fill out this form.

What it’s like to work with me: As a therapist, I am in turn a reflector, a connector, a translator, a guide, and a witness. Some sessions with me feel like quiet grounded meditations. Others, I will be singing you made-up songs. One of my superpowers is that I’m genuinely interested in everything. Nothing strikes me as boring or “too much information.” I believe it all matters and can help build self understanding.

I hold space to look inside, and offer gentle direction and practical wisdom when needed. I will remember the most random things about you, and you, I hope, will experience me as a warm, authentic human creature. My intention is that you will leave sessions with more clarity, more peace, and more access to your inner resources.

The connection between therapist and client—how it feels to work together—is one of the best predictors of growth in therapy. Let’s see if we are good a fit. Email me at LeahSykesTherapy@gmail.com, or fill out this form.
